Christian Essentials, Evangelism & Apologetics, The Trinity Doctrine

Can you Defend the Doctrine of the Trinity? Why is this important?

In the Christian Church today the most attacked doctrine is the doctrine of the Trinity.  Within the last couple hundred years there have arisen many false prophets and teachers claiming to be of God but denying the doctrine of the Trinity.  Also, all of them have come out of Christian affiliations, claiming to be teaching truth, of which the Bible warns us about.

Warnings from the Bible

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” (Matthew 7:15 NASB)

“28 “Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 “I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 “Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.” (Acts 20:28-31 NASB)

“They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.” (1 John 2:19 NASB)

It is amazing to know that Charles Russell, Joseph Smith, Mary Baker Eddy, Ellen G. White and others who were affiliated with Christian fellowship broke off and became religious leaders that claimed to be teachers of God, and yet none of them were.  All non-Christian Cults today were started by people who claimed to have divine revelation of God and that all others were false.  The Christian Church has been warned about these types of people from the beginning.

Do you know what the doctrine of the Trinity is?

Did you know that the percentage of converts to the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Mormon Church is somewhere from 60-70 percent?  It is likely that in some Christian Churches the doctrine of the Trinity has been mentioned or taught, but vaguely.  However, it is more likely that the Trinity doctrine is not being addressed enough.  “When was the last time you heard a sermon or teaching in your Church on the doctrine of the Trinity?”

Let me ask you this:  “Have you ever had someone come to your Church and teach on Christian Apologetics? A person who came to teach people how to witness to those who are in Cults (Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses), World Religions (Muslims), and other beliefs.”  On our former site I asked this question and the response was amazing!

    • 25 % said yes they have had someone come
    • 75 % said they have not had anyone come

The amount of people who voted at our former site was at 400!  That means the 300 people who voted from various Christian Churches said they have not had someone come and teach them Christian Apologetics.  That is a pathetic percentage!  The Christian Church needs to wake up and see that the non-Christian Cults are growing and their evangelism tactics are working.

Can you defend the doctrine of the Trinity?

I ask this question in love and in sincerity.  Do you know what you believe as a Christian concerning the Trinity?  If you were asked, “Where does the Bible teach the Trinity?”, how would you respond?  If you don’t know than you better learn.  Do you know tactics the Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Muslims, and Oneness Pentecostals use to teach against the Trinity?  This is a spiritual war that is fought with the Word of God.  The tactics of various non-Christian Cults are deceiving, evasive, and convincing if a person is not prepared in advance.

I would encourage you to talk with your Pastor and leadership, and ask them to get more teachings on the Trinity.  Check out our Trinity section, and we welcome your questions and comments.
