What Happens When I Die? Where Do You Go When You Die? Heaven or Hell?

What happens when I die? Where do I go? Will I go to heaven or hell? These are questions everyone asks at some point in life, and these are honest questions everyone should ask. For many people they go about their everyday lives wondering what is the meaning of life, what happens when I die, will I go to heaven or go to hell, and why does it matter. Why do people go to heaven? Why do people go to hell?

But how do we know? Who decides what is right or wrong? If there is no God then it simply means that there is nothing to worry about. But if God does exist and Jesus Christ truly died upon the cross for the sins of the world and rose again, then this is something everyone needs to ask themselves. Where do people go when they die? Why did Jesus die for me? What makes Jesus Christ different? What did Jesus Christ do for me?

There are many who say God does not exist. There are many who claim there is no evidence to believe in a God or Jesus Christ for that matter. If they are right, then honestly life is just a glimpse and we simply will go back to the dirt. But if God does exist and there is evidence to consider, then one should seriously consider what that means. For those who believe there is no God or that Jesus Christ is irrelevant there will be eternal consequences, and for those who trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior they have eternal life and joy.

The Bible teaches that we will all die one day, and we all know this. The Bible also states that we are all sinners and it is because of sin that Jesus died upon the cross and rose again (John 1:29; John 3:16; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12-21). The Bible teaches that there really is a heaven and there really is a hell, and that everyone will either be saved or lost (Revelation 20:11-15). Jesus died upon the cross so you could be saved from your sin. Sin is what separates anyone from the presence of God (heaven). Why do people go to hell? Because of sin and unbelief.

If you confess that you believe in Jesus Christ and that He rose from the dead, confess that He is Lord, you will be saved (Romans 10:9-13). God is love, but God is also just and righteous. Those who choose not to believe will die in their sins and be judged for eternity. This does not mean that God is a hateful God, but that it because they did not seek forgiveness and died in their sins. Salvation is by grace through faith it is a gift of God, not of works (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8). Those who go to heaven and are with the Lord do so because of God’s grace, for no one can earn salvation by good works. Why do people go to heaven? God’s grace transforms the heart when a person believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Where do people go when they die? What happens when I die? If a person is a Christian and received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they will go immediately to the presence of God (Philippians 1:21-23; 2 Corinthians 5:8). Those who have not received Jesus Christ will die in their sins and be eternally separated from God. So, if God does not exist there is nothing to worry about. But if God does exist and Jesus Christ is real, then this is something everyone needs to understand and make a decision about.

If you are seeking to know more or have questions please ask. If you want to know Jesus Christ personally I encourage to read the following verses (John 3:16-18; John 20:31; Romans 1:18-20; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8).
